READY OR NOT

PSALM 86:5

"FOR YOU LORD, ARE GOOD, AND READY TO FORGIVE, AND ABUNDANT IN LOVING KINDNESS TO ALL WHO CALL UPON YOU."

There is SO MUCH in this short verse. I pray that as you read this today, the Spirit of God speaks directly to your spirit. I pray that your heart is receptive to receive and hear His voice speaking to you today. Amen

VERSE BREAKDOWN

1- FOR YOU LORD, ARE GOOD...

NOTICE here who it is calling "good". It doesn't say "we are good". It says, YOU GOD are good! ... Why? He knew He would have to meet the qualifications FOR US. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows all of our sin, weaknesses, the things we struggle with day and night (yes, even the things that happen when you're all alone in your bedroom). He knows our thoughts and even the sins we haven't committed yet.

I love that the first line of this verse reminds us that we don't know anything that God didn't already know first!

GOD is good. He is good enough for both you AND Him.

Your imperfections can't out-rank God's goodness.

2- ...AND READY TO FORGIVE...

A lot of us have sadly fallen into the misconception that we need to meet some kind of requirement. Some level of holiness or lifestyle before we can come running to the Father...scratch that. Not "The" Father......YOUR FATHER.

You don't need to go dress in all white to come meet your Father. You don't need to ALREADY have a "christian" looking life to say "God I want to know you!"...

You don't need to be ready for Him, HE IS READY FOR YOU.

Everything inside you and around you will probably try to convince you that you're just a hypocrite. That you're emotional, and tomorrow you'll probably go back to your old lifestyle, AND YOU'RE PROBABLY RIGHT.

Change doesn't come in an instant, it is a process of small decisions that create a big change. You start by coming to your Father JUST AS YOU ARE.

He is READY FOR YOU NOW.

The truth is, we're never going to be ready. He makes us ready.

In seeking God we begin to change, to see the world differently, to see the world the way He sees it. THAT is how He makes us ready.

WE ARE INCAPABLE OF MAKING OURSELVES READY FOR A HOLY GOD.

In order for you to make something holy, you yourself need to be Holy.

So then, the only one who can make anyone holy, is the only one who IS holy... and that is God.

He is READY FOR YOU TODAY.

3- ...AND ABUNDANT IN LOVING KINDNESS TO ALL WHO CALL UPON YOU.

ONCE AGAIN, it doesn't say to all the holy, perfect people or to all who read the Bible every morning, or to all who go to church.

God is desperate for ALL of His children to come home!

YOU ARE HIS CHILD - regardless of the lies you have believed, this verse is talking about YOU. Yes, you who are reading this right now.

God loves you, He longs for you everyday, He is desperate for you. Everyday He hopes to hear your voice calling out to him. HE IS READY TO RECEIVE YOU WHENEVER YOU CALL UPON HIM.

So whether you feel ready or not for God today, just know that God is sitting on His throne READY FOR YOU.

You can make this decision right now.

Talk to your Father, tell Him what's on your heart. What you're feeling. Ask Him questions.

Need some help? Pray through this:

Father God, I don't feel like I'm ready to present myself before you today. But I know now, that I don't need to be perfect to come to you. I know that your goodness is good enough for the both of us, that you are always ready to forgive and receive those who call upon you and that the more I seek you the more I will start living the way you have called me to live. Would you take my hand and walk me towards holiness? I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and you raised Him from the dead to save me. Father I want you in my life, I need you today and every day to come. Amen.
